This means you can choose from a variety of translation settings, depending on what you think is appropriate and the conversation you are having.
In this case, users can choose to enable automatic translation or enable manual translation instead. That is, with automatic translation, when messages are sent to you in another language, the app will translate them. With manual translation, however, you must select the specific message and then choose the translation option.
