To make Gboard more akin to the iPhone keyboard, Google might conceal keys on it.

The keyboard on our phones, which is the one that shows up when we use, say, a messaging app or send an email, is one of the most crucial features.

Although there are other third-party keyboards you can try, Gboard, Google's official keyboard, will come pre-installed on Android devices.

But given that Google's Gboard keyboard is the most popular in the Android ecosystem, any change to it, even a small one, can affect millions of people.

Many users are surprised to learn that Google is testing a minor but significant change to its keyboard: the comma and period keys will soon be hidden.

If you have ever used an iOS device, such as an iPhone, you will have noticed that the comma and period keys are hidden behind the 123 key on Apple's default keyboard.

If this experiment, which was observed in the original version of the app, is successful, something similar might occur with Google Keyboard, where the period and comma keys are situated behind the list of special characters.

Before you get too excited, though, it seems that if this experiment is put into practice, users will be free to select any keyboard option they like.

Whether or not this feature will be enabled by default will not be known until the stable release.

Because the keyboard design will resemble that of the iPhone, for instance, the new option to hide these keys will make it simpler for iOS users to switch to Android.
