There is a change you will love if you use Google Maps on your Android device
Accident reporting in Android Auto is arguably the most noteworthy of the many new features that Google Maps has added recently, though not all users are pleased with it.
Now that Google Maps has been updated, when we choose a destination within the app, the route summary screen has an intriguing new design.
This implies that when you open Google Maps on your smartphone and enter a location or address in the search bar, the app will look for a route, highlight it on the map, and then load more details in the navigation panel at the bottom of the screen when you tap the directions button.
That has entirely changed because this dashboard offers a lot more information than it did previously in addition to having a new design.
The estimated travel time, which is now shown in two rows and in a larger font, will be the first item we see on this dashboard.
Additional details about the route are also displayed on the dashboard, such as the distance to the destination, fuel consumption estimates, traffic data, tolls, and whether it is the fastest route.
The app now makes better use of the available space by displaying this in the same area where it previously only showed a few details.
Note that this dashboard modification is only accessible following the release of Google Maps for Android version 25.13.06. Therefore, even if you update, you will not be able to get it if you have an iPhone. We believe it will happen soon.
However, users of Google Maps for iOS now have the option to make the Google-based navigation app their phone's default app.
This means that you can always make Google Maps your default map if you are not convinced by Apple Maps in this area.
