Samsung says that its One UI 7 camera features will also be available on older phones.

For people who still own Samsung phones from a few years ago, One UI 7 has good news. In addition to redesigning the interface, the new customization layer, which is based on Android A15, gives older phones access to many of the camera features that were first introduced with the Galaxy S25. On devices that still have a lot of life left in them, this change revitalizes the photography experience.

The complete list of photography features that each One UI 7 compatible model will get has been made public by the Korean company, according to SamMobile. Not every phone will have every feature because some require particular parts.

What new features are planned for the outdated Samsung phones?

The Audio Eraser is possibly the most intriguing new feature. This tool eliminates distracting sounds from videos, like background chatter or wind. It will be compatible with the Tab S10+ and Ultra, the Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold SE, as well as the whole Galaxy S24 series. Meanwhile, the Best Face app, which will be available on models ranging from the S23 to the S24 FE, allows you to combine different shots so that nobody shows up in group photos with their eyes closed.

With the release of the new ND filters (2048 and 4096) for Expert RAW, more technical photographers will rejoice. These neutral density filters, which are compatible with the Galaxy S23/S24, Z Flip 5/6, and Z Fold 5/6/SE, are made to manage light in difficult conditions. These phones now function more like professional cameras thanks to this addition.

AI editing is among the most noteworthy features. The Galaxy S22 to S24 FE, all Z Fold/Flip models from the fourth generation onward, and tablets from the Tab S8 to S10 will all support AI photo editing, which enables you to intelligently alter aspects of your images.

Not every piece of news is positive. Newer flagship phones will continue to be the only ones with the most demanding features. For instance, only the Galaxy S24 series will support the Samsung Log app, which records video in a flat format for more editing flexibility. Additionally, devices prior to the S24 or the Z Flip 6/Fold 6 will not be able to use slo-mo on the ultra-wide or telephoto lenses.

The reason is purely technical: more advanced features require specific hardware to function properly. Samsung requires at least an Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 108MP or higher camera sensors, and 12GB of RAM for features like multi-layer editing. These are requirements that not all older models can meet.

Although Samsung started releasing One UI 7 for its most recent models on April 7, the majority of compatible phones will need to wait a little while longer. The S24 will be the first vehicle to receive the update, and over the next few weeks, the rest of the lineup will follow.
