Reboots are over! Installing security updates in Windows 11 eliminates the need for a reboot
The operating system's update issue is undoubtedly its worst feature. In addition to taking a long time to apply, updates also necessitate restarting the computer, which costs even more time.
Early the following year, Microsoft unveiled a feature called Hotpatch that essentially applies security updates to memory processes without requiring a computer restart.
The feature is now available to the public, although it's not available for all versions of Windows 11, but you may eventually be able to take advantage of it.
In addition to the ability to apply updates without requiring a reboot, although this is not always the case, they also provide IT administrators with peace of mind that all computers have immediate access to the latest updates.
Essentially, with Hotpatch, computers receive one core update per quarter that requires a reboot but then receive two months of other patches that don't require a reboot.
But as we said, Hotpatch is only available for Windows 11 Enterprise version 24H2, so you won't find it in Windows 11 Home or Professional.
On the other hand, to take advantage of it, a computer with an Intel or AMD processor is also needed.
Whatever the case, Microsoft provides various tools for administrators that can ultimately provide better recovery experiences and thus make OS updates more consistent and optimized.
