One of the world's most anticipated new features is coming to Instagram

Instagram has introduced one of the most requested features by users, which TikTok has provided since its founding: the ability to download Reels videos, after formally launching its new Edits app, a video editing tool intended to rival CapCut. Adam Mosseri, the CEO of the company, recently affirmed this.

Previously, it was not possible to legally download videos from Instagram, so the ability to do so puts it on par with TikTok. This option is being gradually rolled out in the United States at the moment and will only be available on the mobile version, meaning it will not be available on the web.

To download Reels videos, simply tap the share icon and then download. The video will be saved to your photo gallery, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, only Reels videos from public accounts can be downloaded. Also, just like TikTok, the video will be downloaded with a watermark that includes the Instagram logo and the account to which it belongs.

This is a very smart move on Instagram's part, not only because it meets user demand, but also because it will increase the platform's reach by making it easier to download and share Reels videos, allowing some videos to go viral, just like TikTok, thanks to the ease of downloading content.

With the introduction of the option to download Reels videos, Instagram is taking a significant step toward matching its main competitor, TikTok, and meeting one of its users' most pressing demands. This feature not only improves the user experience but also expands the platform's reach, allowing for easier sharing of videos. With competition intensifying in the short-form video space, Instagram is working to establish itself as a more significant platform, addressing challenges and seizing opportunities in an increasingly dynamic market.
