KB5055625 Windows 11 (still) 24H2 [Manual Download] 26200.5518

A new update is available for Dev Insiders. Microsoft has released KB 5055625, increasing the version number to Windows 11 26200.5518. A new feature is the scaling of taskbar icons. These can be made smaller so that more fit in the taskbar.

There are various settings for this. Automatic—The icons become smaller when the taskbar is full; Never—The size and overflow menu remain the same; and Always—The icons are displayed smaller and smaller.

Sharing files in Windows is much easier and faster with the new Drag Tray feature. When you drag a local file from File Explorer or the desktop with your mouse (or touch), a convenient tray appears at the top of the screen where you can drop the file into one of the displayed applications or select "More..." to open the Windows Sharing window.

Following last week's announcement of Quick Machine Recovery , we are pleased to announce that the test cleanup package is now available to Windows Insiders to experience the full capabilities of QMR in action.

Known issues with KB5055625

  • After performing a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, your build version may incorrectly display as Build 26100 instead of Build 26200. This will not prevent you from receiving future Beta Channel updates that will address this issue.
  • [NEW] Quick Assist does not work for non-administrator users.
  • [NEW] Windows Sandbox is not working or cannot be installed in this build. This will be fixed in the next build.
  • Recall
  • Some insiders may experience an issue where Recall is unable to automatically save snapshots, and the setting cannot be enabled in Settings. We're working on a fix for this issue.
  • Recall can be enabled or disabled via "Turn Windows features on or off." We store the Recall binaries on disk while we test the add/remove feature. We will remove the binaries completely in a future update.
  • Click to Do
  • [NEW] In a few rare cases, Click to Do may fail to launch. Trying again should launch Click to Do.
  • [NEW] There is an issue where images used with Click to Do image actions get stuck in your temporary folder on your PC. This issue will be corrected with the next build. You can manually delete your temporary folder at C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Temp.
  • File Explorer: We're working on a fix for an issue that causes File Explorer Home to crash for some Insiders. Launching File Explorer from a different folder (for example, via Search or the Run dialog) should allow you to navigate your folders.
  • Task Manager
  • After adding the new CPU Utility column, you may notice that System Idle Process always shows as 0.
  • The CPU charts on the performance page still use the old CPU utility calculations.
  • Widgets  Windows Insiders in the European Economic Area (EEA) with the new lock screen widgets may find that the weather widget is temporarily unavailable.

Corrections and improvements made by KB5055625

  • The improved battery iconization in Windows 11 may disappear for Windows Insiders in the latest builds. We're starting to reroll this change to Windows Insiders.
  • Recall  We try out a basic search history feature in Recall.
  • Click to Do
  • Ask Copilot is a new action within Click to Do. When you highlight text or an image with Click to Do, you'll be given the option to ask Copilot. Microsoft Copilot opens with your content in the input field. You can send the highlighted text or image in Click to Do directly to the Copilot app. The selected text or image will be passed to the Copilot app, where you can complete your prompt. This feature isn't available in the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • You can now swipe from the right side of your screen using touch to access Click to Do on your Copilot+ PC. If you prefer, you can switch this feature back to notifications via Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touch.
  • input
  • As part of our ongoing work to improve our settings options, we are now making more mouse-related settings available directly in Settings > Accessibility > Mouse and Settings > Accessibility > Pointer & Touch, without having to visit the Control Panel. This includes settings for the mouse indicator, pointer paths, and other customizations to mouse behavior and pointer. As part of this work, we've also added the ability to adjust the amount of time it takes to hover over a window to wake it if you have wake on hover enabled. Finally, we've updated the mouse pointer speed icon in Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse and added an icon for the option to improve pointer precision.
  • We're updating the Bluetooth & Devices > Pen and Windows Ink and Bluetooth & Devices > Touch pages in Settings to include options for pressing and holding the pen or touch to perform a right-click action.
  • Improved Windows Search  Fixed an issue that caused semantic search to stop working for some Insiders (until you restart your PC).
  • Graphics fixed an issue where external graphics cards connected via Thunderbolt were unexpectedly not recognized in some cases.
  • Hyper-V fixed an issue where Hyper-V Manager incorrectly reported 0% CPU utilization for VMs in some scenarios.
