KB5053654 Windows 11 23H2 [Manual Download] 22635.5160
Late yesterday evening, Microsoft released a new update for the Beta channel. KB 5053654 changes the version number to Windows 11 23H2 22635.5160. This version also includes several new features.
As always, the changes for the switch are on or off in Windows Update. New in this version is the introduction of voice recording in Narrator. "With Voice Repeat, you can quickly access spoken content, follow the live transcription, and copy the last words the narrator spoke—all with simple keyboard shortcuts." You can find a closer look at the keyboard shortcuts in the blog post.
- You can now also open Copilot here in 23H2 using the keyboard shortcut Windows key + C. "To access the 'Press to Talk' feature and start a conversation with Copilot on Windows, press and hold the Copilot key for 2 seconds. On PCs without a Copilot key, press and hold Win + C for 2 seconds. To end your conversation, press the Esc key."
- Windows Sharing will also be able to quickly edit and enhance images while sharing. This includes inline image editing features such as cropping, rotating, and applying filters, as well as the ability to compress images to reduce file size for easier sharing.
- In Settings -> System -> About, you will see an FAQ with questions and answers.
Known issues with KB5053654
- Start menu grid and category view— When you right-click an app, the Start Settings context menu flashes before the app's context menu appears.
- Widgets NEW Windows Insiders in the European Economic Area (EEA) with the new lock screen widgets may find that the weather widget is temporarily unavailable.
- Narrator NEW If you're using Narrator and encounter a crash on startup, please restart your PC to get Narrator working again. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can use a second screen reader to submit feedback in the Feedback Hub, or you can ask someone to help you submit feedback.
Changes and corrections made by KB5053654
- Start Menu Fixed a delay in displaying app icons in grid and category views after installing an app.
- Desktop icons: The logic for pinning apps to the desktop has been updated so that packaged apps no longer display a colored back panel (for example, when you drag Snipping Tool from the app list in Start to the desktop). This should make the icons larger and easier to see. Please note that you may need to create new shortcuts for this to take effect if you already have something on your desktop.
