Forget about Windows' irksome blue screen of death. From now on, it will be replaced by this black screen.

The irksome "Blue Screen of Death," an error message that has been present for more than 30 years, is one of those things you do not want to see when using Windows.

However, Microsoft is testing the black screen of death because it wants to make changes after a long time.

In addition to changing the color from blue to black, this new black error screen has been entirely redesigned, eliminating the information QR code and the frowning face.

As demonstrated by the most recent Windows update, the previously mentioned frowning face and QR code are no longer visible, and a straightforward error message that does not allay users' concerns is all that is displayed during this brief new black screen of death.

As can be seen, this new black screen resembles the one that Windows Update provided in some ways.

The new black screen of death, also known as the error screen alone, has the drawback of not displaying as much technical information as the current blue screen.

"Your computer encountered an issue and needs to restart," reads the current blue screen. Along with a frowning face and a QR code that you can scan to look up more information about the error online, it also says, "We are just gathering error information and will restart it."

On the other hand, the new black error screen merely reads, "Your device encountered an issue and requires a restart."

It is unclear if this new Windows 11 error screen will be included in the stable version for all users or if Microsoft is merely experimenting with changing the classic blue screen error.
