Apple Creates an AI-Powered Medical Consultation Agent
According to recent reports, Apple is revamping its Health app to include artificial intelligence tools for more sophisticated health recommendations.
Under the codename "Project Mulberry," the company is reportedly working on a more complete version of the app that will include an AI agent that can serve as a personal health coach and partially mimic the function of a doctor, according to Bloomberg.
In addition to educational videos featuring actual doctors discussing a variety of medical subjects, the app will provide lifestyle suggestions based on user health data.
In addition to putting more of an emphasis on diet tracking, the new app might also provide advice on how to use the camera on the device to correct posture during exercise.
Reports indicate that the new service, currently referred to as "Health+," may launch with iOS 19.4, which is expected to be released next spring or summer.
As part of developing this initiative, Apple is hiring doctors to train the AI agent and plans to open a studio near Oakland, California, to film educational content. The company will likely partner with a prominent medical figure to be the face of the service upon its launch.
This initiative, which comes after much criticism recently for the delay in launching its AI features, especially those related to the Siri personal assistant, is part of Apple's efforts to improve its digital health services and reflects its move toward integrating artificial intelligence to improve user experiences in healthcare.
