A long-standing cosmetic problem with desktop computers is resolved in Windows 11
Microsoft has made a number of updates for Windows 11 that allow users to access the pre-roll channels first. If everything goes according to plan, users of the almost stable version of the operating system will also be able to take advantage of these new features.
Finally, Windows 11 enables us to use clean icons for desktop apps that are downloaded from the Store, a long-standing request from the user community.
This is explained by the fact that the operating system uses the background color icon format when you install a UWP app nowadays, which makes the shortcut appear off-kilter, especially in comparison to other shortcuts.
Because Windows handles app shortcuts in the store exactly like this, this is always normal.
These apps have a somewhat square background with low-quality colors, and their icons differ slightly from those of the typical shortcuts.
Thankfully, it was discovered in the most recent Windows 11 preview that these shortcuts no longer have a colored background and instead look like any other typical shortcut for a different program.
This makes everything more consistent because these shortcuts now look bigger and sharper than they did previously and are comparable to the other shortcuts.
All users of Windows 11 builds 23H2 and 24H2 will soon be able to access this fix.
Please be aware that in order to see the changes after the next update fixes the problem, you will need to remove your old shortcuts and make new ones.
