Your phone will summarize notifications using artificial intelligence when it updates to Android 16

Google is preparing to launch one of the most anticipated features for Android users: AI-generated brief notifications. This system, unveiled in Android 16 Beta 3 and now available for download, will allow users to receive automatic summaries of their conversations, avoiding the information overload that annoys millions of people. Notifications are no longer useful, and Android 16 aims to give them new life by making them more efficient.

Code discovered in the latest Android 16 beta update clearly reveals that Google is working on a "notification summaries" system. Based on the text strings found, users will be able to enable or disable this feature for specific apps, giving them more control over which apps can summarize their notifications and which should display them in full.

Android will go a step further, allowing "similar-themed notifications to be muted and grouped together for a more relaxed experience," as the code shows. While this feature isn't currently available to beta users, Android Authority, the source of this news, managed to manually enable it, confirming that there will be a new settings area, as well as individual toggles in notification settings for each app.

This new feature represents another truly important step in integrating AI into the Android ecosystem, continuing Google's strategy of using AI to streamline the user experience. The key to success will be the accuracy of the generated summaries.
