Google releases details about the features and cost of the Google Pixel 9a phone.
Google announced the Pixel 9a on Wednesday, its line of affordable phones featuring over 30 hours of battery life and the artificial intelligence needed to launch new devices.
On the technical side, the phone comes with some camera improvements, such as a 13-megapixel (MP) ultra-wide-angle lens that joins the 48-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel front camera.
One of the phone's most important features is its durability, with the device's battery lasting over 100 hours in extreme battery saving mode, in addition to seven years of manufacturer-guaranteed updates, improved fast charging, an IP68 water and dust resistance rating (higher than the previous version), and a more shock-resistant screen.
The phone comes with Google's latest processor (Tensor 4), which allows for a 30% speed improvement while maintaining a lower RAM compared to the higher-end model (8GB compared to 12GB) of the Pixel 9. Another improvement comes to the screen, with increased brightness (up to 2,700 nits) while maintaining both the size (6.3-inch screen) and refresh rate between 60 and 120 Hz.
On the software level, the device's big bet is its use of artificial intelligence, something that can only be achieved in this way. The 9a includes features that have already become Google's biggest selling point, such as "Include Me," which allows you to take two photos and merge them so that the person who took the first photo is not excluded from the image.
The Google Pixel 9a comes with Android 15 and seven years of updates from the brand. But the key lies in its deep integration with Gemini, Google's AI, which includes features already seen on other devices, such as photo editing, but also Gemini Live.
Finally, it's worth noting that the Google Pixel 9a has a 5,100 mAh battery that, according to the company, is capable of delivering over 30 hours of battery life. However, we already know that this depends on how we use the phone. In terms of charging, the new Pixel 9a falls far short of its main competitors, offering a power output of just 23W.
The Google Pixel 9a is available in black, cream, pink, and purple, and in a single 8GB RAM variant. It is priced at €549 and will be available for purchase starting in April.
