Google allows all Android phone games to be played on the computer

People have been looking for ways to play Android games on Windows computers almost since the advent of Android. But in 2022, Google launched its own official platform, Play Games for PC.

At launch, it only supported a handful of Android games. Over time, however, Google added support for thousands of additional games, allowing you to use a single platform to play mobile and PC games. Now, Google has announced its biggest update yet: "The company is making all mobile games available on PC by default."

Of course, most Android games are designed for touchscreen devices, such as phones and tablets, rather than keyboard and mouse (or touchpad) devices like laptops and desktops. Therefore, Google displays "playability badges" to inform users whether a game is "optimized" and meets all of Google's criteria for a good experience on PCs, or "playable," meaning it at least meets the minimum requirements.

Google says it will also roll out new features, including support for custom controls, a gaming sidebar to automatically adjust settings, and the ability to play with multiple accounts. The company is also partnering with PC manufacturers to preload Google Play games on select PCs starting later this year.

This is an interesting move, especially since more than three years after its launch, Play Games for PC is still described as beta.

Play Games for PC is also working to bring support for more native PC games with a new software development kit and the ability to use Google Play Console to manage the distribution of PC and mobile titles.
