With Android 16, you have more control. You can change the keyboard shortcuts on Google to your preference

In a move that may come as a surprise because it hasn't done this before, Google could be working on a new feature for Android 16 that would allow you to customize keyboard shortcuts.

According to reports from Android Authority, they've found various threads of data that herald the arrival of this new functionality, though it's not clear to what extent the keyboard shortcuts can be customized.

As you well know, Android has a huge collection of keyboard shortcuts, and they are listed in the keyboard shortcuts list so you don't miss any of them.

However, by default, you are not allowed to remap existing shortcuts, although some third-party apps can do something like that in one form or another.

As seen in the Android 16 beta, the OS may end up including a native keyboard shortcut customization menu.

Apparently, Google could add a button to the existing keyboard shortcuts list to launch a new customization mode, which will allow you to assign shortcuts to key combinations that aren't already in use.

But of course the question remains to what extent this feature will be customizable. That is, it is not known whether it will be possible to reassign all shortcuts to any desired key combination or even if it will be possible to add completely new shortcuts.
