When support for Windows 10 ends, which programs will not be supported?

Microsoft will stop providing official support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. This means that you will no longer receive any updates of any kind, at least for free. That's why the company has been urging us to move to Windows 11 as soon as possible for some time now.

Many people might be wondering at this point if they will still be able to use the previous operating system version. The answer is obviously yes, but we will almost certainly find ourselves with a vulnerable Windows operating system, which malicious criminals will increasingly try to exploit. As new security vulnerabilities are discovered, they will not be patched as they were in the past.

However, even though this is not the best option, it will be feasible to keep using the operating system in its current state.

However, some people might also be concerned about what will happen to the programs and applications they have installed, specifically if they will still function as they have up to this point.

To a certain degree, the response is likewise positive in this case. For starters, the current versions of the applications we use will remain 100% compatible with Windows 10.

However, as we have observed previously, this compatibility will progressively wane over the course of the months. This is something many of you have surely experienced firsthand at some point when Windows 7 and XP stopped receiving official support.

We are telling you all this because the developers of the various programs that we usually use now on Windows 10 will stop working on updates compatible with this version of the system. This conflict that we mentioned is true and will not arrive in two or three months but will take some time.

- Types of programs that will not be compatible with Windows 10

What we want to tell you is that the programs you are currently using will become unstable and even dangerous if you continue using them on Windows 10. It is worth noting that this incompatibility will affect all kinds of programs, such as antivirus programs or internet browsers.

We are talking about programs where security is a key element, hence the constant updates they receive. As Windows 10 versions stop receiving these updates, they will become nonfunctional and dangerous programs. Attackers are fully aware of all this and will take full advantage of the various vulnerabilities and security holes that appear.

This will extend, as we have already seen in previous versions of Windows, to our games. So, for those wondering what games will not be supported on Windows 10 starting in October, in principle, there are none. But the situation will change over the months until it becomes unsustainable and dangerous when talking about multiple games.

That's why we should start thinking seriously about upgrading to Windows 11, as Microsoft has been hinting for months. Even if the new version of the operating system doesn't completely convince us, we'll be working with more stable and secure software, so it's time to forget about Windows 10.
