This recent report claims that upgrading to Windows 11 causes your computer to become slower

Before October 14, Microsoft is working hard to persuade most Windows 10 users to switch to the new version of Windows 11.

It appears that some of the benchmarks disagree with Microsoft's claims that Windows 11 is the greatest operating system available, offering the best performance, security, and optimization.

Interesting data was released by PassMark, a benchmarking company that released the most recent data on Windows computer performance in 2025.

The performance of the Windows operating system on computers is declining for the first time in history. This raises questions about whether the performance improvement from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is not totally beneficial.

There could also be a number of things to blame, including the fact that there are more and more unnecessary programs in the latest Windows 11 operating systems compared to what happened in recent years.

They explain, “This performance chart is based on thousands of PerformanceTest benchmark results and is updated every two weeks.”

Another piece of data they shared is that most computers don’t go above eight cores. On the other hand, much of today’s software relies on the hardware acceleration that a GPU can provide, which means that CPUs with more cores don’t make much sense.

We don't know if the move from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will affect the performance of users' computers, but Microsoft still has a long way to go to try to convince many people to update before October 14.
