I did not like something I found in it. A website that requires your email address in order to notify you of all the information that has been released and circulated on the dark web

Now that you’ve been online for years, what you might be worried about is your personal data being traded. In particular, everything about the dark web is worrisome, as you never know what’s going on. Fortunately, there’s a new page that lets you see how much personal information has been leaked.

We regularly register on websites, enter our data in stores, share it in messages... Today there are huge databases that accumulate information and which, as you can imagine, are vulnerable to hacking. Because, as we have seen, everything can be hacked. The security company Malwarebytes knows this, and therefore, it has created a tool with which it tries to give users a little peace of mind.

The web tool we are talking about is all about investigating the digital footprint you have left so far on the internet. It is likely to be higher or lower depending on many aspects, whether the security of the services you usually use and how much or how little you personally interact with the network.

Before going into the step-by-step details, let us tell you that the analysis performed by Malwarebytes explores a wide range of sources and places where your information might have leaked. It delves deep into the dark web to provide you with leaked information. It also analyzes internet forums, social networks, the site you might have left logged in there, the device you used to connect, your phone number, and various databases.

To get started, go to the website from the link we leave you below. Once inside, enter your email and click on the Scan Now button. After that, the first thing the system will do is send a verification code to your email, which you will have to enter on the website to continue the process. The reason for this is to prevent other people from accessing confidential information that only you should have, such as the data you will obtain through the analysis.

When you’re done, you’ll be able to see what looks like a map of the internet footprint of things that have been leaked. Using your mouse, you have the opportunity to navigate through the different points on the map. In my own testing, I found a few things that didn’t make me happy, like discovering that my email was available on the dark web. Naturally, after discovering that, changing my password became mandatory.

I also found that my phone number was leaked, along with my full address and date of birth. Of course, all of this was leaked because I registered for a service in 2019 and they hacked that service and accessed user information.

It is actually quite scary, so it is advisable to take into account the tips provided by Malwarebytes and update passwords or make any necessary changes so that our information is less vulnerable.
