WhatsApp introduces a significant new feature for the home screen of your smartphone. What is it?
Over the past few weeks, we've revealed some major new features coming to WhatsApp soon and confirmed that the Meta-owned messaging client is working on a feature that will let you create your own smart chatbots.
But these won’t be the only improvements coming to the messaging app very soon, as a recent leak has revealed that WhatsApp has launched a new widget for your mobile home screen that will be really useful. Want to know what this new widget is? Read on to find out what you can do with this new WhatsApp shortcut.
WhatsApp launches a new AI-powered tool for your smartphone desktop
A team from the media site WABetaInfo has discovered in the latest beta version of the WhatsApp application for Android, which carries the version number 2.25.1.27, that the messaging client is developing a new function that will bring a new tool to access Meta AI, the AI chatbot from the company led by Mark Zuckerberg.
As you can see in the screenshot below, this new WhatsApp tool will include two shortcuts: one that will allow you to open a conversation with Meta AI and another that will allow you to take a photo at the moment to share with Meta AI.
The shortcut called “Ask Meta AI” will allow you to ask questions, request help, or interact with Meta AI directly from your mobile home screen. If you tap on the camera icon, you can ask the AI chatbot to edit an image, explain its content, or answer any questions related to said image.
Additionally, this new Meta AI tool will be completely optional, will be included with the rest of the tools available to WhatsApp, and will only be available to accounts that already have access to AI-powered chats.
Of course, you should know that this new tool for quick access to Meta's AI is still under development, and like the feature to create your own AI chatbots, it is currently only available in certain countries and for a small group of users.
