TVs Will Be Replaced by This in Ten Years: No One Will Purchase Them
Smart TVs have become almost indispensable in any home and are one of the most affordable entertainment options today, with platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and Disney.
Owning one of the best 4K or 8K TVs is a dream for many, but in 10 years things may change dramatically and a new device will arrive to revolutionize the industry.
In fact, it has already been created, and it seems that it will be one of the devices that will provide greater productivity or more comfortable access to entertainment than a smart TV.
We’re talking about mixed reality, similar to what devices like the Meta Quest 3 and Apple’s Vision Pro offer. In and of itself, putting a virtual screen anywhere could be the future of the TV industry.
Mixed reality will replace smart TVs in the future
Previously, it was not believed that streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music would replace CDs.
The same thing happened with video games, which moved from being physical to being digital or played on cloud gaming.
Well, it looks like the same thing will happen with smart TVs. Although they are becoming more common nowadays, they will be considered obsolete in a decade; at least that's what NewsBomb says.
According to the media, physical screens will be replaced with virtual screens that can be placed anywhere you want, as long as you use a device like Meta's Quest 3 or Vision Pro.
The mixed reality they offer will certainly evolve to a point where it becomes more comfortable, faster, and less impactful on the eyes.
For example, these devices are quite bulky today, but in a few years they may become like a kind of glasses, lighter and easier to use.
Being able to use multiple monitors to work or increase the resolution to leave them fixed in one place is something that definitely improves the experience. There are also benefits, such as not having to clean the TV every now and then and being able to watch what you want anywhere without having to move anything.
Of course, it's too early to tell, as there are downsides like not being able to watch a movie with the family or having to wear something over your eyes to enjoy the content.
However, if at some point these devices become cheaper, more stable, and simpler in design, that may be the end of smart TVs, although there are projectors that can also provide a cinematic experience at home if they make the leap in the technology industry.
