This website serves as a museum for defunct software and vintage games. Offering free software downloads for over 20 years
Even though the technology industry is advancing by leaps and bounds and our devices and equipment are becoming increasingly modern and capable, the Internet never forgets. And while this is sometimes a double-edged sword, it is also useful for finding beautiful community projects like WinWorld, an entire museum of abandoned software and information about hardware and software that is no longer common to see running.
WinWorld began in 2003 with one goal, according to its creator: to preserve and share legacy software and transfer the knowledge needed to use that software in an increasingly modern computing age.
Duff’s obsession with technology began when he was already using Macintosh LC computers in his school lab. Since then, he has become increasingly interested in old technology. From there, WinWorld was born, a website where we can find multiple old versions of quite a few operating systems, software, games, and much more.
Although it's not just about operating systems, the web is an ancient museum and also provides links to multiple communities and websites that maintain software and knowledge about a whole range of software, applications, interfaces, hardware, and much more.
Its community is still very active. In fact, in its forum we can find very interesting topics about old technology and abandoned software, among other things. In this way, WinWorld brings together all those interested in retro from a project that started more than 20 years ago.
All links to software and other downloads are provided absolutely free of charge. However, its creator accepts donations to cover the costs of site maintenance, link renewal, etc.
In its library, we can find links to old operating systems, applications, very old games, development tools, system files, and much more. If you feel nostalgic and want to know if there is a download link for a particular system or program, you can always access its search box.
