The first AI robot that is completely free to use and does not require the Internet

Numerous AI-based platforms and applications are available to us, and they are always expanding and getting better. One of the most popular and widely used proposals at the moment is ChatGPT from OpenAI, an alternative that most of you have tried on some occasion.

Other large tech firms, like Google and Microsoft, are also placing bets on this expanding trend. Both companies have long promised that AI will increasingly reach more of their platforms and applications. In this way, millions of users around the world use these services to generate automatic texts, create images or videos in seconds, perform all kinds of queries, chat as if they were humans, or even get code instructions.

We have a large number of platforms of this type, some of which are more well-known than others, and there are even those that work offline. This means that we can access the benefits of this artificial intelligence without the need to connect to the Internet, as is the case with Jan. In these lines, we will talk to you about an open source and free application based on artificial intelligence that many of you will love.

In fact, we find an application that we can install on our computer to take advantage of different AI language models.

Once the application is installed on our computer, it is automatically updated to the latest version, which can take a few minutes. From there we will find an intuitive user interface where we will initially find the different supported language models. We have the possibility to choose, download, and install what interests us most in each case.

It should be taken into account that as we add new language models to the program, the disk space occupancy increases significantly. Keep in mind that all Jan operations are executed locally by our computer. Therefore, we may encounter some languages that occupy several gigabytes of disk space. If we click on the button that appears in the left panel of the main interface and is represented by four small squares, we find more compatible models.

From there, and once we know that, we find in the main interface of the program a search box so that we can interact with the artificial intelligence directly. On the other hand, the program itself provides us with an application programming interface (API) so that we can integrate this artificial intelligence into different known platforms that operate in the cloud.

But we must keep in mind that one of the biggest attractions of this program is that it works without the need for an Internet connection. This is certainly something very important for all those who care about maximum privacy, especially now if they regularly use different solutions focused on artificial intelligence.

We can download the Jan program from this link.
