Remove these apps from your phone because they contain harmful viruses

Cybercriminals are constantly trying to scam us in different ways. Malicious apps are a gateway to our devices much more than you can imagine. Today, we have to warn you about a number of banking apps that hide a dangerous Trojan.

According to McAfee, a leading security group, it has discovered a series of apps that hide malicious code and can infect your phone. Through a spyloan attack, your bank account can be emptied. These apps are classified as potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), and they use social engineering tactics to gain excessive permissions and collect sensitive information, which can lead to extortion, harassment, and financial loss.

- What is Spyloan?

SpyLoan is a term used to describe a type of malicious mobile loan apps that primarily run on Android devices. These apps trick users with the promise of quick and easy loans, but their main goal is actually to collect sensitive personal information and exploit victims through harassment, extortion, and abusive fee-splitting tactics.

It should be noted that this attack is targeting the markets of America, Africa, and Asia, although it will soon spread to the rest of the continents, so it is better to be prepared. And if you are traveling or living in one of the affected areas, you should be ready.

It becomes even more difficult when you consider that these malicious apps have been downloaded more than 8 million times. If you download them, they will ask you for excessive permissions, such as access to contacts, SMS, call logs, geolocation, and more.

Using the data they collect, they can start extorting money from you using fake photos and other means. Moreover, in some cases, they offer quick loans with simple requirements but charge exorbitant rates and hidden fees.

What's worse is that even though platforms like Google Play have removed some of these apps after receiving complaints, activity continues to rise due to their rapid ability to spread to other app stores.

Here is a list of malicious banking apps that McAfee has detected so you can delete them as soon as possible:

As MacAfee explains, you should follow these guidelines to avoid unnecessary concerns:

Review permissions: Do not grant access to unnecessary functions.

Check legitimacy: Research developers and read real reviews.

Use security software: Install a reliable antivirus program.

Report: Report suspicious apps to authorities and digital platforms.
