One of the most downloaded Google apps has amassed over 5 billion downloads on the Google Play Store. It is crucial to have it
Slowly but surely, the number of apps from the big Google that are joining the select club of apps with the most downloads in the Google Play Store is growing, with Google Messenger surpassing five billion downloads a little over a year ago, and now the latest from the company has managed to achieve this milestone.
As 9to5Google has confirmed, one of Google's most popular apps has surpassed 5 billion downloads on Google Play, but just like with Google Messages, there's a problem with that number.
We are referring to the Files by Google app, a powerful file and app manager for Android that was born as “Files:Go” and was renamed to its current name in 2018. Later, in March 2021, it reached 1 billion downloads on Google Play, at which point it also became one of the Google apps that comes pre-installed on almost all Android phones on the market.
This last fact is exactly what explains why Google's file manager has managed to quadruple its downloads in less than 4 years.
In fact, Files by Google has become the twentieth app from the American giant to cross the 5 billion download threshold, a huge achievement, especially considering that until a few years ago, this app was not part of Google's cloud service.
Files by Google is a completely free app, with no ads or in-app purchases, and you can use it to free up space on your device by deleting duplicate photos or uninstalling any app you've downloaded to your smartphone, among other options.
Moreover, this private file manager has recently been updated with integration with Gemini, thanks to which you will be able to ask Google's chatbot any questions about the PDF document you opened in the said app.
