In February, Microsoft will install this software against your will in an attempt to eliminate all of Windows 10's positive features

At this point in time, when we refer to the Windows 10 version of Microsoft’s operating system, we are referring to a program that is in the final stages of its production life. In October of this year, it will stop receiving all types of official updates from the tech giant.

This is something that will happen in just a few months, at least for free, so many users will finally have to move to Windows 11. However, this does not mean that Microsoft has abandoned this version, which is considered old, of its operating system. However, not all the changes that are being made at the moment can be considered positive, as we will explain to you now.

It is certainly normal for major changes to occur in Windows 11, as we have seen over the past few weeks. On the contrary, it does not make sense at this point that Windows 10 users, for example, should see the programs that arrive on their computers as a necessity. The year 2025 has just begun, and we will tell you some bad news for users of this version of the system.

We’re telling you all this because the software giant has made the decision not to let us block the new Outlook app from arriving on Windows 10. This basically means that it will install itself on our computers in the background and without us needing to. It’s worth noting that the company will start installing the new Outlook on Windows 10 as a mandatory feature through the optional January 2025 update.

Not only that, anyone who ignores this optional update will see the new Outlook install itself with the February 2025 update. Here we are talking about a mandatory update that will arrive on our Windows 10 computers.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’ll suddenly find ourselves with this app installed on our PCs in the next few weeks. This change is largely due to the removal of the Mail and Calendar apps that were available until recently in this version of the operating system. The new Outlook app, which the company is billing as a replacement for both, will be installed automatically on Windows 10 PCs.

So, the company itself assumes that we need the new Outlook app by default, no matter what. Now, in case this happens and we decide to remove it, it is something we can do through the system tool, PowerShell. Here we just have to open a window with administrator permissions and execute the following command:

Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -AllUsers -Online -PackageName (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.OutlookForWindows).PackageFullName

This way we will be able to continue working in Windows 10 without this application that we may never use and that takes up space on your computer.
