Do you still use Chrome's outdated version? You will soon lose access to one of its greatest features, so update it

Google Chrome is one of the most widely used browsers today, and Google has managed to make its browser stand out from the competition in many ways. One of its main features is automatic syncing between different devices. Whether you’re using Chrome on your phone or your computer, everything will always be in sync and ready to go.
Having the same bookmarks, favorites, passwords, folders, and addresses on any device makes using Chrome every day easier. However, that’s all about to change for those with an older version of Google Chrome. Google has just announced that Google Chrome’s sync feature will no longer work on older versions of the browser.
Google has posted a statement on the official Google Chrome Help Blog explaining that sync will be removed. However, this situation will affect all users running older versions of the browser. While the change is drastic, the solution is simple, and falling victim to this situation is something that can be avoided.
Sync will no longer be available on all devices running versions of Google Chrome older than four years. This means that versions released in 2021 will no longer have access to sync. Google notes that when you try to sync information of any kind, you’ll see one of these messages:
- Update Google Chrome to start syncing.
- Update Google Chrome to continue using Google Chrome data in your Google Account.
The solution to this situation is very simple; all you need is to get the latest version of Google Chrome. Google indicated that the change in synchronization will mainly affect computer users because Android or iOS versions are usually updated more frequently and automatically via the Google Play Store and the App Store.
To update Google Chrome on your computer, simply follow these steps:
- Open Chrome
Enter the three-dots menu on the upper right side.
- Enter the "Google Chrome Information" section.
- Check if there are any pending updates.
- Chrome update
The change in Google Chrome shouldn’t be a big deal for users; in fact, those using a four-year-old version of the browser should update the software now. Google hasn’t given a specific date for when sync will be lost, but it will happen in the first months of 2025.
