According to a report, iPhones are more susceptible to phishing attacks than Android smartphones.

Historically, iOS has always been thought to be more secure than Android. But a new report from Lookout, a Boston-based cybersecurity firm, shows that iPhones are more vulnerable to phishing attacks than Android. Not only that, iOS also appears to be less protected against malicious websites.

As Forbes reported, the report by Lookout Threat Lab researchers analyzed data from the third quarter of 2024, using information from 220 million devices and 360 million apps, as well as “billions of web objects” to compile the report.

They found a 17 percent increase in enterprise-focused credential theft and phishing attempts compared to the previous quarter. We fear that iPhones are the primary target for PC attackers.

Android is more secure than iOS against phishing attacks, according to Lookout

What’s worse is that iOS is more vulnerable to these types of malicious threats than Android, with 19% of iPhones used in business environments experiencing phishing and web content attacks. On Android, 10.9% of business devices were attacked.

It should be noted that iOS is the most widely used operating system in the business sector, so it makes sense that it would have a higher rate of attacks. But in the consumer market, things are not getting any better. In this way, phishing or web attacks affected iOS devices more (18.4%) than Android devices (11.4%).

Again, we come back to the same reason: iOS is growing globally, so threats are growing with more potential victims. “As cyber threats evolve, we’re increasingly seeing attacks targeting mobile devices as a gateway to enterprise cloud applications that host sensitive data,” said David Richardson, VP of Endpoint at Lookout.
