After two years of consecutive declines, the mobile market is back on track, according to preliminary figures from market analysis by Counterpoint. In 2024, there will be a growth of 4% compared to last year, although we must remember that the figures for 2023 were the lowest in a decade.

The manufacturer rankings remain the same, although the year wasn’t equally good for everyone. With Samsung and Apple showing little change over the year, Xiaomi was the brand that saw the most growth, while OPPO was the brand that saw the biggest drop in sales.

With sales growing 4% year-over-year, there were few surprises. According to Counterpoint analysts, Samsung is once again the top-selling smartphone brand with 19% of the total, followed by Apple with 18%.

The top two positions are largely unchanged compared to last year: Samsung's sales grew by 1% and Apple's sales fell by 2%. Xiaomi is again in third place with 14% of sales and the highest growth this year among the top 5 companies: 12% more than in 2023.

Fourth place goes again to OPPO with 8% of the total, but Vivo follows closely behind as ever. The difference is that OPPO reduced its sales by 8% in 2024 and Vivo increased its sales by 9%, with both closing the year in a technical tie with 8% of the year’s sales.

The remaining 33% are from other brands that didn’t make it to the top five but gained a few points from the total, such as Huawei, Honor, and Motorola. The latter is the manufacturer that has seen the biggest growth in the top ten, although it still doesn’t reach the numbers of Vivo or OPPO.
