US Officially Confirms TikTok Ban Starting January 19, 2025
TikTok's situation in the US is going from bad to worse. The platform's ban in the US is getting closer, and now it's been ratified: As of January 19, 2025, TikTok will be banned in the US, and thus access to the platform will be unavailable.
ByteDance, the social network's owner, appealed the decision, but yesterday three judges on a federal appeals court unanimously ruled to uphold the law and ban it.
TikTok in the United States. So, in just over a month, it will not be possible to use this social network in the country.
TikTok has no choice, as it has refused to comply with the US terms, which required the social network to be sold to an American company before January 19, 2025. So ByteDance has two options: sell the company before the deadline, or trust the country's next president, Donald Trump, to change the situation.
With over 170 million users, losing the US would be a serious blow to TikTok, as well as to creators who would lose their source of income. So, we’ll have to see if Trump will keep his word and decide to reverse the decision. For now, if you live in the US, we fear that as of January 19, you will no longer be able to access TikTok.
