Say goodbye to the need to buy Windows and Office activation They found a new way to get Microsoft

Microsoft products aren’t free. Although we often think that Windows and Office don’t cost money, either because they’re installed by default when we buy a computer, or because someone installed them for us without charging us anything, to use them legally, you should always check. They’re not exactly cheap products. However, the company’s future in terms of software could be at risk.

Microsoft uses a license-based software protection system. That is, to install and use its products, it is necessary to enter an alphanumeric license key, which is provided to us when we purchase the product.

First, to install Windows, you need to enter a valid license key, which is checked locally. Once the operating system is installed, the license must be validated online to ensure it is valid and not reused.

All versions of Windows (since 95, up to MS-DOS), as well as MS Office, use this protection system. Although it is true that online verification did not start to be used until the era of Windows XP. Today, with Windows 11 and Office 2024, the licensing system remains the same.

However, it seems that 2024 will not end well for Microsoft. It is possible that a group of hackers have left this license protection system completely unusable, allowing any version of Windows, Office, or any other company product to be activated without the need to use software, KMS, or the like.

This puts Microsoft in a big bind, because if true, it would leave all of the company's products unprotected, allowing anyone to use them without having to purchase a license.

Microsoft, optimistic about Windows and Office

The group of hackers behind this attack are none other than the creators of MAS, one of the most popular “activation tools” for Microsoft products. This group of cybercriminals has confirmed that their method is perfectly valid for activating the company’s products.

According to them, the solution will be available to everyone in the coming months, although they have not provided more details about this yet. For its part, Microsoft seems to be quiet. The company has not yet made any statements about whether this is true or whether it is just new activation tools that work in a similar way to the ones that already exist. Moreover, if this is true, it will be difficult for the company and it will be financially damaged.

This method might work for Windows Server versions, but honestly, no sane company would use Windows (let alone a server) without paying for a license. The only thing that could cause some loss for Microsoft is allowing anyone to activate Windows 10 Extended Updates after 2025 without paying.

We will be following this closely to see how it develops and will share it with you when it is available to everyone.
