Samsung officially announces One UI 7 These are its new features and the phones that will be updated
Samsung has just updated the official One UI customization layer website to make its new Android 15-based version a reality. One UI 7 is now a reality and it comes with a bunch of interesting new features for eligible Samsung Galaxy phones and devices.
The One UI 7 beta has yet to start rolling out, so its final, stable version is still a long way off. However, we now have a preview of what this layer will bring us, which, as expected, puts Samsung’s AI at the center of everything to be the big draw of this update.
- The five main new features that One UI 7 will bring
These are the new features that One UI 7 will include, which were revealed by Samsung's official website:
- Redesigned icons
With One UI 7, Samsung has made minor tweaks to the design of its app icons. They’re now more rounded with a subtle 3D effect. It’s not a huge deal, but there it is.
- Interface modifications
As you can see, there have also been small aesthetic changes to the interface. Mainly to the lock screen, notification panel, and quick access panel. The most noticeable is the bottom of the lock screen, where there is now a new UI element inspired by the latest version of iOS.
- Live Effect
It's one of the new features of Galaxy AI, Samsung's artificial intelligence, which will let you add a depth effect to photos in a professional way with the press of a button.
New filters are also being added to create sketches using images and functions we already know such as Circle to Search or instant translation of phone calls are being implemented at 100%, which could contain improvements or new features in relation to what One UI 6.1 offers. 1.
- New parental control options
Specifically, One UI includes two new features to regulate children's cell phone use: requests to install new apps (a notification will be sent to your cell phone every time your child wants to install an app that you must approve or disapprove) and locking apps with a password.
- Other secondary features :
*Ability to adjust shortcut icons
*The dropdown bar for shortcuts and notifications can be standalone or integrated.
*New battery icon and charging bar animation
*New camera user interface
*Support for 5G SMS has been added.
*New notification popup and close animation
* Many new home screen and lock screen widgets
- When will One UI 7 and compatible phones be released?
One UI 7.0 is expected to arrive in a final, stable version with the Galaxy S25 in late January 2025. Before that, we'll have a beta version that will start in mid-December in South Korea, the US, and Germany, and will then expand to India, the UK, Poland, and China.
