One of the most anticipated features by users comes to Gemini: you can make calls without unlocking your mobile phone
Google has brought AI to millions of devices with Gemini. This AI is more than just a virtual assistant, it can create realistic images, summarize emails, quickly respond to messages, and translate or convert voice to text.
The tech giant has been working on one of the most anticipated features among users since last October: making calls without unlocking the mobile phone. Google's artificial intelligence will also allow you to send messages from the device's lock screen.
The new Gemini feature is now available in the latest beta version 15.48 of the Google app, as spotted by 9to5Google . The changes haven't reached all users yet as the company typically rolls out improvements incrementally, but it hopes to do so very soon for all compatible devices.
- How to enable calls and messages from the lock screen via Gemini?
Google knows that millions of users prefer to have their phones locked, so making calls or sending messages could put their private information at risk. The new Gemini feature is not enabled by default.
Calls and messages are activated from the Gemini settings panel or from the shortcut on the lock screen under the header. Users who received the update will have to enable the “Make calls and send messages without unlocking” and “Outgoing calls and messages” options.
Google warns in a description below the settings that you'll need to enable the calling and messaging apps on Gemini. If you want to add reminders or events, you'll also need to grant permissions to Google Keep or Google Calendar.
Google has introduced an extra layer of security for users. Google explained in the app’s configuration panel that “Gemini will continue to ask you if you want to lock your phone when replies contain personal information like your Gmail messages.”
