Calling without coverage, without the Internet Xiaomi launches a unique feature in the world
This is something that usually happens in many product presentations today, and unfortunately, the features that manufacturers announce do not work from the first moment. We had the clearest example recently with the launch of Apple Intelligence and the iPhone 16, a technology that has not yet arrived in all countries and it is not even known when it will reach these compatible devices.
Something similar happened to Xiaomi with the Xiaomi 15, a phone that showed off a new technology called Xiaomi Star, a communication system that allows us to make calls without the need for a mobile network connection within a radius of about 3.5 kilometers, and fortunately this is now available through its latest update.
It is true that the Xiaomi 15 has not yet seen the light of day, but that does not mean that we are facing a complete revolution in the mobile sector market. Many times we are left without coverage in a very dangerous area, and this type of technology can save our lives.
As explained by Xiaomi itself during its presentation, the new Xiaomi Star communication system is able to connect two Xiaomi 15 devices without the need for an operational mobile network at the time in a maximum radius of up to 3.5 km. Furthermore, it also stands out for its ability to penetrate up to seven layers of walls to ensure good connectivity even in the most difficult environments in which we find ourselves.
For now, the technology is only compatible with Xiaomi 15 phones among themselves but it is expected to arrive later on other mobile phones sold by Xiaomi itself or even other brands, and it could undoubtedly set a precedent in order to improve our security. It is also true that this function is available in the beta version of HyperOS 2 launched by Xiaomi in China, but its 100% stable version will arrive in December so that users can use it.
In short, we are probably facing a technology that today seems very revolutionary to us, but given the benefits it offers, we are sure that sooner or later it will be implemented in the vast majority of phones we have on the market.
