A new way from Huawei will shock you to share files on phones without touching them
The Huawei Mate 70 and Mate X6 series are set to launch in China on November 26. Ahead of their highly anticipated debut, the Chinese smartphone maker has teased a new feature that will arrive with the phones on social media that aims to make file transfers between devices a more efficient experience by leveraging gesture controls, eliminating the need to touch the smartphone. This development builds on several teasers for the two phones that Huawei has shared in recent weeks.
In a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo, Huawei has shared a short video showing off the file transfer capabilities of the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 series and Mate X6 — both of which run the company’s own HarmonyOS Next operating system (OS). The video, which features Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, shows off the ability to share files between devices using gestures without touching them.
It is activated by a "grab" signal from the palm to the fist and is completed when the reverse action is performed by moving to another device.
A similar feature is also available on Apple devices but requires users to physically touch the screen to pick up the object and then complete the projection process on another device. It is unclear whether Huawei’s new feature will require users to have the same account on both devices they want to transfer files between.
According to previous reports, the Huawei Mate 70 series could be powered by the Kirin 9100 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. It will run on HarmonyOS — the company’s latest operating system that was launched in China last month and is developed independently of Android.
