Warning: Apple is asking everyone to install this update on their iPhone or iPad if you don't want to get hacked.

Be very careful if you have an iPhone or iPad in your hands. Apple has just released an emergency update for iOS and iPadOS devices. Apple advises all users to install iOS 18.1.1 immediately because it addresses two critical security vulnerabilities.

The issues in question, identified as CVE-2024-44308 and CVE-2024-44309, have been rated as “extremely serious” by cybersecurity experts. The former affects the JavaScriptCore framework and could allow a remote attacker to steal personal data, including information related to your banking and savings.

The second affects the WebKit browser engine and opens the door to cross-site scripting attacks, a technique used by cybercriminals to insert malicious code into legitimate websites. Apple confirmed that both vulnerabilities have been actively exploited on Mac systems with Intel processors, so you should be especially vigilant about keeping your devices up to date.

What's even more worrying is that falling into the trap isn't that hard, which is why Apple moved immediately, which some experts have praised, by the way.

The update is available for almost all types of devices, including all iPhones starting from XS and later, as well as many models of iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad, and iPad mini. To install it, users need to go to Settings, General, and Software Update.

With all of this, the message is clear: If you have an iPhone or iPad, regardless of how old it is, the recommendation is to update your device now.
