Urgent D-Link asks owners of these routers to stop using them immediately

From the offices of D-Link, a well-known manufacturer in the technology sector, an urgent request is being published to users. It is targeting owners of many routers affected by a security vulnerability that the company has confirmed will not be fixed.

All routers, sooner or later, reach the end of their lifespan and are left without support from their manufacturers. But the end of support date doesn’t mean that users will stop using these devices overnight. In general, many people remain loyal to their devices as long as they work. However, D-Link doesn’t want owners of some of its routers to continue using them.

First of all, we should mention that the vulnerability was previously discovered by a security expert known as delsploit. When he discovered it, he contacted D-Link to inform them of the problem with the routers in question. Since then, they say they have decided to keep some of the information confidential in order to prevent hackers from exploiting the problem to launch large-scale attacks.

However, they want users to be aware of what is happening so they can change their router as soon as possible. The affected routers ended their service on May 1, 2024, so it is very likely that there are still many users using them. The affected routers are the following: DSR-150, DSR-150N, DSR-250, and DSR-250N, all of which are marketed internationally.

The first thing D-Link says is that you should update to the latest firmware version of the routers in question. But then the company itself confirms that the update does not provide you with resistance to the existing vulnerability that we told you about in this article. Therefore, updating the firmware does not seem to be very useful, and therefore the only completely safe solution is to change the router to a newer model.
