How to Find Out Which Program Is Using the Most Battery on Your Windows Computer

When your Windows laptop is draining faster than usual, there are probably some applications that are consuming more power than they should.
This can happen due to your configuration or the background execution that the program in question needs. However, among the many applications and programs that you can install on your system, finding the one that uses the most battery can be quite a hassle if you don’t use the right tools.
Well, whether you have Windows 10 or Windows 11 and need to do this, in this step-by-step guide you will learn how to find the app that is draining power from your computer.
- How to view battery usage by app using built-in Windows tools
Windows has a native function that monitors battery health. This option is usually found in the Power Saving features.
To be more specific, you need to go to Settings by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard. After that, go to the System section.
You then have to tap on the battery section.
If you scroll down, you'll see the Battery Usage by App section, which shows a list of apps that have consumed the most power on your laptop over the past 24 hours or past week. On the right side, you can view the percentage of usage from highest to lowest.
If something strange appears, like an app consuming 50% or something similar, you can apply actions from the background options.
On the other hand, you can also perform a forced shutdown from Task Manager, by right-clicking on the program and choosing the End Process Tree option.
Knowing this information will undoubtedly help you find the source of your laptop's performance problems and keep your battery life healthy.
