Elon Musk Wants to 'Make Games Great Again' With AI Game Studio
If Elon Musk is missing one thing, it’s getting into the video game industry, and that’s clearly his next big goal. The entrepreneur said on X that he wants to create his own AI gaming studio under the wing of xAI, the startup dedicated to developing Grok. His goal? To take on the big companies.
Like everything Elon Musk has said recently, this should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is well known that when an entrepreneur sets his mind to something, he doesn’t stop until he achieves it, for better or worse. The Twitter purchase is a case in point.
The announcement came in response to a series of discussions about X in which the supposed “ideological takeover” of existing studios and games was criticized. In particular, he was reacting to a comment from Billy Markus, co-founder of Dogecoin, who said: “I don’t understand how developers and the press are so ideologically trapped. Gamers have always been trolls, anti-greed, anti-trash companies. They have always rejected manipulative bullshit and can tell when someone is a crook outside the company. Why do you allow yourself to be suckered into bullshit?”
Elon Musk, who shares Marcus’ frustration, responded that it was because there were “too many game studios owned by big corporations.” For this reason, the entrepreneur said, “xAI is going to create an AI game studio to make games great again.”
At the moment, Elon Musk has not provided further details on how he plans to approach the project of creating a video game studio, nor what exactly he is referring to when he talks about “AI games.” The use of artificial intelligence in this industry has taken on a new dimension with the craze for generative models, although it has not been without controversy.
