Don't like what Instagram recommends? You'll now be able to turn suggested content back on from 0

Instagram, the social network owned by Meta, is making changes aimed at allowing users to improve their content feed. The platform, which is facing competition from other services such as TikTok, is seeking to ensure that users find content that is more interesting to them and thus more willing to spend more time within its app.

The main feature that Instagram has added so that people can create a list of suggested content that is more similar to what they like is the ability to completely remove the algorithm that the app has created for those users who are not satisfied with what Instagram shows them in their feed when browsing the app.

This new function that allows you to "curate" the content that Instagram displays, as explained in its official blog, will be available very soon along with other functions that will continue to be improved, such as the creation of a "teen profile", since there are many minors who use the application and who may be more sensitive to different types of content. Likewise, users will also be able to mark the content that interests them, so that it appears more frequently, when they triple-click on the corner of the image.

It is clear that any minor can access all kinds of content that is not suitable for their age, which is why social networks are currently making efforts to prevent this audience from accessing this type of content from their own platforms. In fact, creating a profile for teenagers has already been available on Instagram for months, and other applications such as TikTok also have their own “kids mode”.

In fact, one of the biggest problems with these social networks, especially among minors, is their potential to become an addictive product for them, especially with practices that are trying to be curbed today, such as the controversial endless scrolling of videos.
