Did you know that Facebook has your data, even if you haven't created an account? Find out a site that hides it from us and allows you to delete it
There are many occasions when Facebook and Meta can obtain data from users who are not registered on their platform. In this case, the company creates a special type of account for them to store that information, often without their consent or knowledge.
For example, Facebook has run into trouble with the European justice system, using the "Like" button and code embedded in web pages to track users and collect their information even if they do not have an account on the site.
Another way Meta might get data from unregistered users is from users’ friends and acquaintances. Apps like Messenger or Instagram allow us to upload our contact list to easily find them, but as a result, Meta keeps that information; in other words, Meta might have your phone number even if you didn’t give it to them, just because an acquaintance uploaded it.
The good news is that there is a way to find and delete this information, although Meta doesn’t make it easy. In fact, it was a “secret,” because while the method is public, the company hasn’t announced it or notified affected users; it was only discovered by Business Insider that we learned about the tool’s existence.
The web page is hidden among the intertwined pages that make up Facebook Help, but can be accessed directly through this link . It consists of a series of questions that we must answer so that Meta removes our information from its database.
The first thing we need to do is select the data we want to delete, whether it is a mobile phone number, a landline number or an email address.
Next, we must enter the phone number or address, and choose where we want to perform the search, either on Facebook (including Messenger) or on Instagram. To confirm the deletion, we must enter a code that will be sent to the contact method we want to delete. Keep in mind that if the data is not there, nothing happens.
