Apple is working on a new Siri version similar to ChatGPT

For years, Siri has been a smart assistant that, while groundbreaking, hasn’t evolved as much as Alexa and Google Assistant. While they’ve advanced in natural conversations and complex tasks, Siri’s development has been slow. But that’s something Tim Cook’s company is determined to change.

Apple is working on a major revamp of Siri, internally called “LLM Siri.” The new version will use advanced language models to transform the assistant into a more conversational tool, capable of handling complex requests and maintaining fluid interactions. In essence, the goal is for this development to compete with existing systems that have surpassed it.

These improvements are expected to come gradually. Apple plans to integrate LLM Siri as part of iOS 19 and macOS 16 updates in 2025, with a full consumer release expected in 2026. So the work is underway.

The new Siri will apparently have a more intuitive interface and will also integrate more deeply with third-party apps through improvements to App Intents. Additionally, it will benefit from advanced Apple Intelligence features, such as the ability to summarize text, create content, and perform complex tasks independently.

Unlike its competitors, the North American brand will continue to prioritize user privacy above all else, ensuring the protection of personal data. However, the company appears to have no qualms about initially working with third-party AI systems, such as ChatGPT, while developing a fully in-house solution.

When the new Siri is finally available, users will be able to enjoy a more flexible, useful and versatile assistant. The AI will not only answer basic questions, but will also help with complex tasks like managing schedules, planning trips or even creating personalized texts.

However, with a full launch scheduled for 2026, Apple has a long way to go before it catches up with its competitors (proving that it is lagging behind in this market segment). While the company has already proven its ability to enter the market late and redefine it, as it did with the Apple Watch, it remains to be seen whether Siri will be able to establish itself as a leader in the virtual assistant space.
