WhatsApp adds the biggest change in its history Say goodbye to “typing” with this new feature
The latest news from WhatsApp surprised everyone. The company already has the famous “writing” alternative, the notification that the app showed to tell you that the other person was writing a message. This historical detail of the messaging app will disappear from the area where it has always been, in addition to its format will change completely.
The good news is that WhatsApp will continue to feature this mode, but with a new design that is more in line with the current era. In fact, it is impossible to deny that the service has copied from other messaging apps for the new aesthetics of this feature.
It now appears that WhatsApp is working on a new experience to make conversations more dynamic: the “typing” indicator feature has been redesigned for both individual and group chats.
In the beta version 2.24.21.18 of WhatsApp for Android, the “typing” indicator appears directly on the same screen or conversation window below the last message sent instead of being located in the top bar as it has been for many years.
What this novelty generates is that from that space you can now see how the contact is typing before sending the message and thus avoid having to look repeatedly at the top of the chat; a much improved experience, even more so these days when most smartphones are very tall.
WhatsApp doesn't just stop at indicating that someone is "typing," it's also using the same experience when recording a voice note so that the microphone icon appears, as seen in the two screenshots obtained by WaBetaInfo .
What is of great importance now is the dedicated user account icon with profile picture, as it will be used to indicate that the user is writing in a group, just as it happens in one-on-one chats.
In groups, when multiple users are typing at the same time, their different icons will appear to indicate the action, which is one of the biggest novelties in this new experience, as previously only one username would appear even if there were multiple people typing at the same time.
This novelty is already being tested in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android and in the coming weeks it will be opened to more users to end with the release of the final version.
