While the name probably doesn't ring a bell if you're not 100% into the world of AI, there's a startup called Genmo that wants to change the game when it comes to AI-generated videos.

We just launched Mochi 1, an open-source model that promises to stand up to the giants in the industry. The best part? It’s free and anyone can try it. You’ll just need your Google account, and you’ll notice that creating a video takes about three or four minutes.

It works the same way you probably already know. You type in what you want to see animated, and you have a video generated using AI with great accuracy. The magic here is that, unlike its competitors, which can cost dollars a month, Mochi 1 is available under the Apache 2.0 license, meaning anyone can use and modify it freely.

🔴 OPENSOURCE VIDEO GENERATOR!

Ladies and gentlemen, here we have Mochi 1, the first open source video generation model that is close to the private video generation models!

Yes, everything has its nuances and there are still small adjustments and improvements to be made. The company itself admits this:

“There are some known limitations. The initial release currently outputs 480p videos. In some extreme cases with intense motion, slight distortion and blurring may also occur. Mochi 1 is also optimized for realistic styles, so it does not work well with animated content. “We also expect the community to tweak the model to suit different aesthetic preferences. Additionally, we have implemented robust safety management protocols in the gaming area to ensure that all video generations remain safe and in line with ethical guidelines.”

However, Genmo is planning to release the Mochi 1 HD later this year, which will support 720p resolution and offer higher motion resolution.
