This browser will continue to work with extensions that Google Chrome will block

The world’s most widely used web browser, Google Chrome, is going to implement one of the most controversial changes in its history: the new Manifest V3. This version is more restrictive than Manifest V2 , and it will make hundreds or thousands of browser extensions stop working and impossible to install in Chrome. Fortunately, there are other alternative browsers that promise to continue working with it. Opera is one of them.

Opera was one of the most used web browsers in the world in the era of Windows XP, although it did not know how to adapt well to the changes in technology at the time and the explosive growth of Google Chrome. For this reason, this browser disappeared without a trace, to return years later as an alternative based on Chromium (Chrome engine), but removing everything that users criticized, and adding functions to improve its ease of use.

Now that Google has made the most controversial change in its browser history, alternative web browsers are once again on the side of users. And Opera is one of those browsers that will keep extensions that can’t be updated to Manifest V3 running.

- Opera One R2, the browser that will be supported by Manifest V2

Although this browser was already presented a few months ago, taking advantage of the controversy surrounding the change to Manifest V3, Opera has once again talked about its new browser One R2, powered by artificial intelligence. This web browser stands out for offering users a large number of generative tools based on its own artificial intelligence such as Aria, as well as other very interesting changes to improve the usability of the browser, such as intuitive tabs.

Among the many new features that we can find in this web browser, the one that Opera insists on the most is that it will continue to work with Chrome extensions that still use Manifest V2. In this way, all those extensions that have not been updated will be able to continue working within this new web browser without problems.
