The most important security feature launched by Google and you should activate it without hesitation
Fraudulent emails, such as phishing emails (which impersonate companies or entities so that you click on their links), are a serious problem, and above all, if our email has been leaked due to a data breach somewhere, we may receive emails of this type from time to time.
Spam in general is stronger than ever online, from social networks to forums or email, so it is important to take advantage of the tools that the browsers and services we use put at our disposal to reduce the risks. Google is not far from this, it has added new functions to its Chrome browser, with the aim of creating protective barriers between the user and websites that could be classified as suspicious or unsafe.
Since Gmail is one of the most used email services in the world, we should not miss out on taking advantage of a feature that will protect your security in Gmail so that clicking on a fraudulent link does not take you directly to the scammers' page. This is the "Enhanced Safe Browsing" feature, which you can check whether you have activated it or not from your Google account settings.
- If you are using Google Chrome, you can also check these settings by typing in the address bar:
chrome://settings/security
- Activate it as you can see in the picture.
Google explained that this tool “works automatically in the background to provide faster, more proactive protection against dangerous downloads, extensions, and websites.” The website reads: “If you decide to enable Enhanced Safe Browsing for your account, the feature will protect you when you sign in and improve your security in Chrome and Gmail.”
