Samsung Introduces Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition The Thinnest and Most Advanced Foldable Smartphone
After months of rumors and leaks, Samsung has officially launched its thinnest and most advanced foldable device yet in South Korea, a premium smartphone that will finally hit the market under the name Samsung Galaxy Z.
One of the big differences between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and the Galaxy Z Fold6 is that this new foldable is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, measuring just 10.6mm thick and weighing 236g. This makes the new Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 1.5mm thinner and 3g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold6.
But the changes don't end there, as the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has larger screens than its predecessor, with a 6.5-inch external display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, and an 8-inch foldable internal display with a 20:18 aspect ratio.
Likewise, both the display and the back of the device are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the phone's body has a frame made of armored aluminum, which ensures greater resistance.
The processor chosen for Samsung's new foldable phone is none other than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the same processor we've already seen in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold6, and this processor is accompanied by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
In terms of photography, the phone comes with a 200MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 2x optical zoom and OIS, the same sensor that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with. Additionally, this main sensor is supported by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition's photography system is completed by a 4MP under-display camera and a 10MP selfie camera located on the outer display.
As for the rest of the features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, it is worth noting that it has a large 4400 mAh battery with a 25W "fast" charging cable and 15W wireless charging and broadband connectivity with a dual SIM card slot compatible with e-SIM and 5G and Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC and UWB and a USB-C port and a fingerprint reader on the side.
Finally, on the software front, Samsung's new foldable arrives with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14, the variant that includes Galaxy AI, the Korean company's AI suite, and is expected to receive Android 15 with One UI 7.0 as early as 2025. Furthermore, like the rest of Samsung's flagships, the phone is guaranteed 7 years of Android updates and security updates.
The new phone was launched in South Korea in one color: Black Shadow and one memory configuration 16/512 GB, and will go on sale in the Asian country on October 25 for a price of around $2,024 at the exchange rate.
