Samsung Begins Rolling Out One UI Update for Smart TVs

Samsung has started rolling out its One UI update to select smart TVs ahead of schedule, according to a report from company-focused website SamMobile.

Samsung recently announced its plans to bring the One UI design to its TVs, with the aim of making it consistent with its Galaxy smartphones. Although the launch was planned for 2025, the company has started its launch early for some screens.

The update has appeared on the Samsung S90C screen, which is one of the best screens that the company currently offers, in addition to other versions of screens from 2023.

The new update runs on Tizen 8.0, while Samsung's 2023 displays ran on Tizen 7.0.

The update will include changes to the design and overall look of the displays, but the underlying system will remain the same Tizen.

The One UI update includes a number of new features, such as the For You, Live, and Apps tabs on the home screen, as well as personalized recommendations based on recent viewings, the Daily+ Hub feature that helps manage lifestyle and health apps, in addition to the Game Hub feature for games.

There's now a Watch Later tab that lets users save TV shows and movies to watch later, Samsung has made changes to the design of the Game Bar, and improvements have been made to the Fitness section, so Samsung's smartwatches and wearables can be connected to the displays to track data like heart rate and calories.

Although the One UI update adds many improvements to the screens, it may raise some reservations, as Samsung has been criticized in the past due to the complexity of the One UI interface in its phones, according to some users.

It is worth noting that Tizen on TV screens has not received as much praise as competing systems, such as webOS, Roku, and Google TV, in terms of ease of use.

The One UI update is still in its early stages on TVs, and it's too early to tell if these changes will be a long-term improvement.
