No need to carry your passport when traveling
No need to carry your passport when traveling.. Soon the Google Wallet app will allow you to carry your passport on your mobile phone
Google announced in September that it would be using the Google Wallet app to store your passport. Well, we have good news, as they have started rolling out a beta in the US so that you can use your digital passport on some domestic flights.
As we said, they started rolling out this feature today, as reported by 9to5Google in the US. Additionally, there are some limitations since the digital passport in Google Wallet will only be used on some domestic flights and at airports accepted by TAS.
But this is the first step to not having to carry your passport, and above all to be assured that you will not lose it. On the other hand, although they have started to implement this system in the United States, it is likely to reach other countries, including Arab countries.
- How does the digital passport work in Google Wallet?
A digital passport would save us a lot of hassle, which is why Google has introduced this new functionality that allows you to create a digital ID from your passport and we hope that it will end up reaching other markets, because it will continue to make things much easier for us.
While it was previously possible to store some state-issued IDs, this new feature will make it easier to travel through airports through select TSA checkpoints.
Additionally, creating your passport in Google Wallet is no longer a mystery—all you have to do is scan your passport’s security chip and take a short selfie video to verify your identity. Within minutes, your digital pass will be ready to use.
As you can imagine, your data will be encrypted, and to use it, an authentication system (such as a fingerprint or PIN) will be required before the information can be shared. Regarding a possible launch in other markets, it is too early to know when this feature will reach our Arab countries.
