LINGUASO's New Website for Learning Languages While Watching YouTube Videos
One of the best ways to learn languages is to listen to people who speak them. There's nothing quite like spending a few months in the country of origin of the language you want to learn, of course, but the Internet can help bridge the gaps.
Today we present a project that uses YouTube to help those who want to learn to speak another language or improve their skills in it.
It's about linguaso, a project to learn languages in a natural way using YouTube videos, and taking advantage of it, as Mikel, its creator, tells us, he offers the following:
The concept of comprehensible input: Expose yourself as much as possible to the language to learn it naturally, as native speakers do. The process is simple. We just have to choose the desired language and follow the following steps:
- Browse a catalog of thousands of translated videos on various topics.
- Click on the translation to check the meaning of words you don't know.
- Practice challenges by participating in exercises with selected words. Each challenge lasts for 30 seconds, and helps to memorize the words in question.
As you can see, it is ideal for learning vocabulary and improving listening. It has nothing on the speaking side, no microphones listening to our voice to interpret what we said or to check that we pronounced it correctly, but it focuses on making us better understand what others are talking about.
You can check out the featured videos on their homepage, categorized by language, a list that will continue to grow over time.
