Insta360 announces the launch of its new camera Ace Pro 2
Insta360 has announced the launch of its new action camera, the Ace Pro 2, an updated version that competes with the famous GoPro cameras, with many accessories that suit different uses.
The new camera features a larger screen on the back that can be moved at a 180-degree angle, making it easier to take selfie videos, and its price starts at $400, which is $50 less than the original Ace Pro.
The Ace Pro 2's design is similar to the GoPro Hero series and DJI's Osmo Action cameras, with a side lens that allows room for an additional screen on the front. Unlike competitors, the Ace Pro 2's front screen only displays information, not video.
The rear screen measures 2.5 inches, with increased brightness and pixel density, making it easier to adjust shots whether the user is in front of or behind the camera.
One of the most notable features of the Ace Pro 2 is its ability to shoot 8K video at 30 frames per second, compared to 24 frames in the previous version. The camera relies on a new generation 1/1.3-inch image sensor and a 157-degree wide-angle Leica Summarit lens.
The company has improved photography to 50 megapixels, and it can shoot 4K video at 120 frames per second, or 60 frames per second with HDR, while it can record 1080p video at up to 240 frames per second for smooth slow-motion shots.
The Ace Pro 2 camera is powered by a professional imaging chip that processes images and reduces noise, along with an artificial intelligence chip to operate PureVideo mode, which allows for enhanced video brightness and improved details when shooting at night or in low light conditions. The camera can also rely on artificial intelligence to create automatic videos that collect the best moments.
The camera is more water-resistant to a depth of 39 feet (12 meters), compared to 33 feet in the previous version, and can be used up to a depth of 197 feet (60 meters) when using the optional diving housing.
Insta360 has added a new accessory called the Wind Guard to improve audio quality in fast-paced activities, and it's magnetically attachable, but can be removed to record audio in quiet conditions.
The camera features a larger 1,800mAh battery, which lasts up to 180 minutes when recording video at 1080p at 24fps. However, when shooting at 8K resolution, the battery life decreases.
The camera supports recording up to 120 seconds before starting to avoid missing important shots, and allows recording to be paused and then resumed without creating a new video file, in addition to supporting voice commands, hand gestures to control the camera remotely, and displaying information in the video from smart watches, fitness and activity trackers, and others.
